Maarten de Boer

Maarten has 19 years experience in PKI and Trust Services. He has audited a wide range of PKI environments, including Web PKI and personal certificates.

 

Maarten started his career in January 2007 at KPMG, focusing on Public Key Infrastructures. Maaten performed Trustworthy System audits, certification audits and PKI compliance gap analyses. Since February 2013, Maarten has worked as an independent entrepreneur in a broad range of industries, which include Trust Service Providers. For example, Maarten held the role of Security/Compliance Officer at a TSP for a year. Since 2017, Maarten mainly acts as a Lead Auditor in the field of (eIDAS) Trust Services. In 2024, he co-founded Attestic together with Patrick Paling, with a full focus on auditing eIDAS Trust Services, Smart Tachographs and Trustworthy Systems.

 

Maarten has conducted more than 350 audits, with extensive experience in frameworks such as ETSI EN 319 401, ETSI EN 319 411-1/2, ETSI TS 119 461, ETSI EN 319 421, Regulation (EU) 910/2014, CA/Browser Forum requirements, PKIoverheid PoR and CEN/TS 419 261 for Trustworthy Systems. He also performs audit work for the Smart Tachograph based on EU regulations. Maarten is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP, ISC²) and Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA, ISACA), and completed a post-master’s degree in IT auditing at the University of Amsterdam.
